Waltham Abbey Pancake Races
On Shrove Tuesday Waltham Abbey Town Partnership (WATP) once again organised the now traditional Sun Street Pancake Races.
The weather was kind and although rather blowy and cold it was bright and dry. The ages of participants ranged from 2 years to 84 years!
Many of the participants were very competitive and the attractive trophies, for which WATP were very grateful, were coveted awards.
It was lovely to have the support of Honeybears Day Nursery and so many of their children took part, making the Under 5s Race the main event. Congratulations to Zachary Leadbitter for winning this Category.
Winner of the Adult Race was Nevyana from Crepe & Shake for the ladies and Charles Atkinson (who subbed for the store manager) from Tesco for the men.
Mick Day won the Over 65s Race – Many congratulations to the winners, but also to all who took part and for those who braved the cold to support the event.
WATP were grateful to the Mayor Councillor Anthony Watts who not only presented the cups to the winners, but also participated in the adult race.
A big thank you to Michele More who, on behalf of Tesco’s, once again provided all the resources and prizes.
Also thanks are due to Howard Green of Duncan Phillips, who sponsored and provided the cups for the race winners.
Without such support this event could not take place.
