Honorary Freedom of the Town
At a Special Meeting of Waltham Abbey Town Council, the honorary freedom of the town was awarded to the Venerable Martin Webster, Archdeacon of Harlow. Martin was the Vicar at the Abbey Church in Waltham Abbey for a number of years, and often attended Town Council meetings to offer up prayers before the start of business. Mayor Cllr Mrs Ricki Gadsby was delighted to present Martin with the citation, thanking Martin for his work within and his commitment to the community of Waltham Abbey.
At the following meeting of the Town Council, Cllr Mrs Ricki Gadsby was elected to the Chair for a second term of office. Cllr Mrs Gadsby of South West Ward, Waltham Abbey, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, has chosen Abbeyfield Society, of Warburton Lodge, a residential care home for the elderly as her charitable cause for this civic year.
