Have you a passion to become a spy? There’s some top secret hush hush work going on down at the Royal Gunpowder Mills in SPY KIDS HALF TERM! Open DAILY May 26 - June 3.

Professor Nitrate becomes Agent Nitrate in a week full of spytastic fun. Visitors will be Agent Nitrate's newest recruits, learning to look for fingerprints, write secret messages, check out the test range, make and launch rockets plus much more!

In the Mad Lab, you will find Agent Nitrate at work with interactive science shows for all the family to enjoy.

Spytastic films will be shown on the Bank Holiday Weekend - Check the website for our listings to see what’s showing on which day!

The fun doesn’t stop there.  There are also land train tours, our award winning interactive exhibition and film, plus ample grass play space for the kids to run about and enjoy.

Already acknowledged for being ‘family friendly’ by the Telegraph, The Royal Gunpowder Mills is a participant in the Children’s University and was awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in 2017. The Royal Gunpowder Mills has a long track record of being loved by families. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult. There is a range of great family tickets on offer. Children under 3 come free. There is ample indoor and outdoor activity space as well as a lovely cafĂ© and free parking.

The Royal Gunpowder Mills opens its door daily between May 26 and June 3 for Spy Kids Half Term, located in Waltham Abbey, just off Junction 26. History: The Royal Gunpowder Mills is an internationally important heritage site, with over 20 listed buildings which was in operation for 300+ years manufacturing explosives and propellants up to World War II, then it became a Defence Research Establishment involved in top secret non-nuclear research into rocket fuels and explosives...   Visitors can learn more about its history on in its exhibitions.  A must is a guided land train tour through 170 acres of parkland and woodland with mysterious buildings of the historic explosives factory peeping through the beautiful alder trees.  The site is rich in not just in history and science but nature too.
