Press Release

The Mead Comedy Club season gets off to a great start on Friday 15th September with two of the comedy club circuits most experienced comics.

 Headlining the night is Sean Meo;

Former Time Out Comedian of the Year (1998), Sean is widely acknowledged as one of the finest performers and writers on the UK comedy circuit. A former professional snooker player, he turned to a career in comedy in 1989. He is now one of the most established names on the comedy circuit, and regularly headlines at Jongleurs and The Comedy Store where he is a member of The Cutting Edge topical comedy team.

He has performed all over the world from Montreal to Melbourne, New Zealand to Edinburgh, and Singapore to South Africa. He has worked extensively in the US, including San Francisco, New York and the Riviera in Las Vegas. He has been seen on The World Stands Up and heard on The Now Show, and is also a prolific writer for various TV programmes.

"He can turn out intelligent material with a speed that many other comics can only gasp at” Time Out

“Slick, confident patter...can win over the most committed hecklers” ES Magazine

"Truly hilarious" The Scotsman

 Supporting Sean is John Mann;

Local man John provides sharp observation and wry wit mingled effortlessly with a gentle and confident rapport, which ensure this comic is unfailingly funny.  Whether he is discussing the senile antics of senior citizens or giving handy hints to aid successful shoplifting, John's gentle and honest delivery makes him one of the most enjoyable comedians on the circuit today.

 John is as at home with an audience of students as he is with a corporate dinner and frequently appears in most of the UK's leading comedy clubs, most notably Jongleurs for whom he is a regular and longstanding headliner. He has been seen on Live at Jongleurs and heard on Comedy Network.

"The man is quite simply very very funny" Nihal Arthanayake - Radio One

"Distinctly amusing, engaging and talented" Malcolm Hay - Time Out

"One of the funniest people I know" Phill Jupitus

There will also be two supporting acts. Resident Host for the season is Paul Wade well known promoter of the Harlow Comedy Club.
